It always feels a little uncomfortable when someone is talking about themselves, and how awesome they are.

For both parties, including the person getting their brag on.

(hey, there’s nothing wrong with that – you’ve got to be able to talk about yourself and sell what you’ve got!)

So do you want to know the easiest way to decrease the resistance and increase the cooperation of your prospects?

Then pay close attention :)

How to Promote Your Business on Facebook without Being Overly Promotional – Using Customer Testimonials Effectively

This is why sites like Yelp and Amazon are so effective at what they do. They use user generated reviews to help you make a decision. Rather than the company trying to tell you how awesome their product is, they let the people tell you how awesome it is.

How to Collect Customer Testimonials Quickly and Easily

If somebody says something great about a blog you did, the work they received from you, or whatever here’s what you want to do:

  1. Take a screenshot using something like Jing
  2. Share the testimonial on FB with a link back to your site
  3. Save the screenshot for your future sales materials

Of course, it’s always best you double check with that person before you start sharing their likeness and their word all over the internet ;-)

How to Promote Your Business on Facebook without Being Overly Promotional – Examples

There’s no better way for you to get new ideas on how you can promote your business on Facebook without being spammy than if I give you concrete examples of what I see as best practices.

Here’s a few of my friends and colleagues in different industries who are teasing their audiences quite well:

I wish I’d started doing this a LONG time ago, because I missed out on a lot of POWERFUL opportunities to allow others to promote for me.

Bonus tip: Create a ‘testimonial’ album on your Facebook profile with all the social proof you’re posting so the Facebook lurkers can see how awesome you are whenever they get curious ;-)

Question for you: Have you used customer testimonials on FB to help you build your business? If not, why not?

Super helpful post Avram! You made me realize that i already have testimonials just from comments on my blog!

Also you helped me realize that i do have plenty of results to share with people, even if its not the income result.

Being interested is so much more powerful than being the interesting :)

    Great post man!
